Wat Yannawa is an old Bangkok temple built during the Ayutthaya period. It was originally called Wat Khok Kwai or buffalo stable.
In the reign of King Rama I (1782 - 1809) the temple was designated a royal temple and renamed Wat Khok Krabue, which is still a stable for buffaloes though of a slightly different species.
In the reign of King Rama III (1824 – 1851) a Chinese junk, a vessel responsible for prosperous trade between China and Thailand during that period, was built in the temple grounds.
The temple was then renamed Wat Yannawa.
Yan in Thai means craft or conveyance and nawa, vessel or boat; hence this wat is sometimes referred to as the boat temple.

- Singapore , officially the Republic of Singapore, sometimes referred to as the Lion City, the Garden City or the Little Red Dot, is a sovereign city-state in Southeast Asia. Singapore's territory consists of one main island along with 62 other islets.
Stamford Raffles founded colonial Singapore in 1819 as a trading post of the East India Company; after its collapse and the eventual establishment of the British Raj, the islands were ceded to Britain and became part of its Straits Settlements in 1826. During the Second World War, Singapore was occupied by Japan. It gained independence from the UK in 1963 by federating with other former British territories to form Malaysia, but separated two years later over ideological differences, becoming a sovereign nation in 1965. After early years of turbulence, and despite lacking natural resources and a hinterland, the nation developed rapidly as an Asian Tiger economy, based on external trade and its workforce.
Singapore is a global commerce, finance and transport hub. Its standings include: the most "technology-ready" nation (WEF), top International-meetings city (UIA), city with "best investment potential" (BERI), second-most competitive country, third-largest foreign exchange market, third-largest financial centre, third-largest oil refining and trading centre, and the second-busiest container port. The country has also been identified as a tax haven.
Singapore ranks 5th on the UN Human Development Index and the 3rd highest GDP per capita. It is ranked highly in educationhealthcare, life expectancy, quality of life, personal safety, and housing. Although income inequality is high, 90% of homes are owner-occupied. 38% of Singapore's 5.6 million residents are permanent residents and other foreign nationals. There are four official languages: English (common and first language), MalayMandarinTamil; almost all Singaporeans are bilingual.

Merlion Park, is a Singapore landmark and major tourist attraction, located at One Fullerton, Singapore, near the Central Business District (CBD). The Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and the body of a fish that is widely used as a mascot and national personification of Singapore. Two Merlion statues are located at the park. The original Merlion structure measures 8.6 meters tall and spouts water from its mouth. It has subsequently been joined by a Merlion cub, which is located near the original statue and measures just 2 metres tall.

Malacca, officially Melaka _"The Historic State" is a state in Malaysia and located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula, next to the Strait of Malacca.
This historical city centre has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 7 July 2008.
Although it was the location of one of the earliest Malay sultanates, the local monarchy was abolished when the Portuguese conquered it in 1511. The head of state is the Yang di-Pertua Negeri or Governor, rather than a Sultan.

The Stadthuys (an old Dutch spelling, meaning city hall) is a historical structure situated in the heart of Malacca City, the administrative capital of the state of MalaccaMalaysia in a place known as the Red Square. -St. Paul's Church is a historic church building in MelakaMalaysia that was originally built in 1521, making it the oldest church building in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. It is located at the summit of St. Paul's Hill and is today part of the Melaka Museum Complex comprising the A Famosa ruins, the Stadthuys and other historical buildings.
-In 1952, a statue of St. Francis Xavier was erected in front of the ruins of the church in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of his sojourn in Melaka. A day after the statue was consecrated, a large casuarina tree fell on it, breaking off its right arm. Incidentally, the right forearm of Xavier was detached in 1614 as a relic.

St Francis Xavier with a cutting-off right hand.
St Francis Xavier died off the coast of China and his body was buried in Malacca for six months before going on to its final resting place in Goa, India. In 1614, the Pope requested the right arm of Saint to be severed from his corpse and sent to Rome. Blood was shed and gushed out of the arm even though he had been dead for 62 years. Immediately after Fr Francis Xavier was canonised a Saint in 1622 what remain of the right arm in Rome was merely skeleton. But the body in Goa remains incorrupt minus the right arm. In 1952 the Bishop of Macau decided to put up a statue in front of the St Paul's Church. A  marble statue was ordered from Italy and was sculptured by the famous Italian sculpture, G.Toni and was ready for the fourth centenary celebrations on the 22 March 1953. One quiet night a huge tree fell, burying the statue. On clearing the branches, the statue was found to be intact except for the right arm which had broken off. This is yet another miracle of St. Francis Xavier to show that his incorrupt body in Goa today is without the right hand. Until today visitor to St Paul's hill can still witness this phenomenon with the statue standing without the right hand.

There are many citations to the birth of Saigon (Sài Gòn) city in Vietnam and the origin of its name.
In the 15th century, this area were swamps, marshes and thick forests.
By the early 17th century, a small township was formed.
According to one theory, Saigon or Sai Con has its root in a Khmer word Prei Kor (Kapok Tree Forest).

The name Saigon was used officially in 1698, when Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu sent Mr. Nguyen Huu Canh
to this region to create various districts and to form a government for this southern outpost.
Because of its strategic location for trade and commerce as well as military importance,
Saigon continued to grow and became a bonafide city.
By 1772, Mr. Nguyen Cuu Dam began to fill many of the canals to form streets.

In the mid 19th century, the French with the aid of the Spanish invaded this port city and
 destroyed the fort.
This event was the precursor to the long struggle between the people of Vietnam and France
leading to the historical defeat of the French in 1954. In the years after the defeat of the French,
Vietnam was divided into two separate countries
and Saigon became the hub of resettlement for many as people from north and
central Vietnam immigrated south.

In the 60's and 70's, Saigon was bustling with commerce and business.
It was the cultural center and the capital city of South Vietnam (Republic of Vietnam).
Already heavily influenced by the French in terms of culture and style, the city had an air of
a French provincial town with a Vietnamese twist.
Saigon was dubbed the "Pearl of the Orient" (Hòn Ngọc Viễn Đông) by the foreign press.
The city was alive with activities and cultural diversity that rivaled any Asian city at the time.

After the fall of South Vietnam to communism in 1975, the city and
many of its inhabitants were in a state of chaos and turmoil.
In 1976, the new Vietnamese communist government renamed
the city Ho Chi Minh City (Ho Chi Minh is a Vietnamese Communist founder and leader,
in the rank of communist criminals such as Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot ...)

to the people of Vietnam and the World : the city is still lovingly referred to as SAIGON

But following its grand opening in 1924, the Grands Magasins Charner became the place to shop in Saigon.

-The Saigon Tax Trade Center Mosaic Staircase: A Forgotten Moroccan Masterpiece:
Saigon heritage – the 1924-built French department store housed one of the world’s great pieces of mosaic art.
One of the most important examples is the great staircase of the Grands Magasins Charner (GMC), now the Saigon Tax Trade Centre.
Photo via Dona Đỗ Ngọc.
The Société des Grands Magasins Coloniale purchased the land on the corner of boulevards Charner and Bonard in Saigon in 1921, and in the following year they began construction of the GMC store, which was similar in design to the company’s existing Grands Magasins Réunis department store in Hà Nội. According to an article of 14 June 1925 in Les Potins de Paris, the GMC was built over a period of two and a half years, from 1922 to 1924. In this way, almost exactly 90 years passed between its inauguration day on 26 November 1924 and its closing day on 25 September 2014.
Taking pride of place in the GMC lobby was the grand mosaic staircase, complete with decorative bronze railings. Though long regarded as an artwork of great beauty, the origins of this staircase were quickly forgotten, and only when the fate of the Saigon Tax Trade Centre was announced was its importance reassessed.
Furthermore, the particular design of the mosaic staircase, with its predominant blue colour, shells and fish motifs, seems to bring to mind the great maritime history of Saigon, making the whole staircase an “invitation to the sea.” It’s thus entirely appropriate that in 1925 the French authorities installed a siren on the roof of Grands Magasins Charner to announce when the courier ship from France had docked with its mail and passengers!
